Giving thanks

Thanksgiving is getting close, and while we don’t celebrate it in Denmark, there is more than a few things I like about it. I like eating pie, and gathering family. And the food. Yum. But mostly I like the idea of reflecting on the things you are grateful for.

I think it’s easy to always focus on the bad things that’s happening in your life, and feel like you are drowning, so taking a moment to think about the things that really matter is an healthy exercise.

And if you’re anything like me, you sit down and go blank. Maybe you can come up with a few of the big things like good health and loving family, and then you just stare out in the room, completely clueless.

So my advice this year is to sit down and make a list. Divide it into two categories and spend a few nights this week filling it out.

One category should be all the big things. Here you put the good health, loving family, work, and so on. All the big things that impact your life but mostly “run” in the background.

The other category should be all the small everyday stuff. The things that make you smile on a grey morning, or the things that make you laugh before bed.

I hope this has inspired you to find out what you are thankful for this year.
