The do’s of weightloss

(Please keep in mind, that I’m not a doctor or health expert. This is simply what works for me. I recommend talking to your doctor before starting a weightloss journey)

Greens and fruit

Eat lots of greens. Broccoli, cauliflower, salads, tomatoes, cucumbers, cabbage, kale, and so on. It’s absolutely delicious and it’s easy to bring a salad for lunch and have more greens for dinner. Fruit should mostly be seen as a snack as they do have quite a lot of calories and sugars in them, they can be a nice little pick me up when the energy runs a bit low the last couple of hours of work, and goes well with breakfast.

Water keeps your body going and helps everything move as it should from your gut to your blood. I have a whole post about water right here – The goodness called water

Fibers keep you feeling full longer, keeps your gut healthy and can help you lose weight.

Healthy fats

The body need fats to stay healthy, but not all fats are born equal. Try to keep to the good fats. This includes nuts, avocado and some oils. Don’t overdo it on animal fats, but don’t be scared of them either. Fat should preferably make up between 20 – 30 % of your daily calories.

Meat and eggs

While we should all try to eat a bit less meat in general, meat and eggs are good ways to get some protein, which helps you feel full, and build muscles. Try to keep to the leaner cuts and rill up with greens and beans.

Now if you cut enough calories from your diet you can sit on your ass and still lose weight. But, it isn’t especially healthy. So try to get moving. Walking is a great way to get some exercise, and youtube is filled with yoga, dance exercises and other fitness related videos. And for me it’s not just about burning calories, but about firming up and help things stay in place, so to speak (no one wants a sagging bottom).

if you want to read more about why you should keep walking, I have a whole post about it – Lets talk walking

Count your calories

It’s so easy to underestimate how much you eat. In fact, studies show that people in general underestimate their portion size with 20 %. While that might not be a problem when it comes to salad, it’s definitely a problem when it comes to pasta or candy if you wanna go down in weight. So take out the old trusty scale (or buy a new one) and start counting your calories.

Stay positive and keep your eyes on the goal

You didn’t put on all this weight by eating two bad meals, and you won’t lose it all by having two good ones. If you really wanna lose weight it’s all about keeping at it, and don’t let a single mistake ruin the whole day.
