So, I’m gonna come straight out and say it. I sucked at drinking water. I had gotten to a point where the only liquid I drank was coffee/tea and probably only about 1L a day. I had so many head aches and felt sluggish.
So, a few months ago I decided to change it. I’m not perfect at all, but I am thinking about it a lot more, and I try to get at least 1½ L a day.
Now, I’m not good at drinking plain water. It’s so stupid, because we got such nice clean water here in Denmark, but unless I’m really really thirsty, I just don’t feel like drinking water. So I use a bit of flavor in my water to make myself drink more.
Why should you actually drink water?
Well, our body is 60% water, our blood 90%, it helps carry oxygen, and is essential for most body functions.
Among many things, water helps keep your skin healthy, clear, and elastic. A well hydrated body can help prevent early wrinkles and prevent the itchy dryness that some people can get.
It also helps us produce saliva, which helps in the digestion of food. And dehydration can cause stomach problems like constipation, and increase the risk of heartburn.
Keeping hydrated helps you absorb many minerals and vitamins, and it can keep the risk of kidney stones down, and helps lower the risk of an UTI.
And lastly, not drinking enough water can lead to headaches and tight muscles.
So, what should you do?
For me, either making a 1L pitcher and keep on my desk, or having my ½L bottle with me, helps me drink so much more than normally. It almost becomes a little competition with myself to drink it.
Only thing to remember is that if you drink say 3 glasses in 15 min, your body can’t absorb it all and it’ll run straight through you. It’s better to space it out through the day, so your body get a chance to use the goodness you’re giving it.
I hope this helps you.
Thanks for sharing, I’m trying to drink more water esp. at work when they don’t let you have a bottle of water on a hot day!

That’s awesome. I tried the app, but it just annoyed me and didn’t help. Sp now I just make sure to carry water with me everywhere. here in the heat I have a few bottles of water in the freezer so if I go out I can grab one and have cold water in the bag to slowly drink and keep me cold and hydrated

Thankfully I’ve been good at drinking a lot of water for years now, but if I ever go through a small phase of not getting in as much as usual I find keeping a large bottle on my desk/ table at all times the best way to get it in. I very rarely get thirsty so I need it there to remind me to drink it! x’

Me too. I’m so bad at remembering to drink if I’m not basically showed the water. I like to have a few bottles and keep one in the fridge so I always have cold water to grab
